Health Warrior Chia Bar is the only bar with chia as the #1 ingredient – the very first one you read on the label. This bar first caught my eye because it was on sale and I was going out of town and needed some airport snacks. I picked up a few different, but this review is of the Coconut Chia Bar, which “is packed with omega-3s, plant-based protein and fiber”.
The different flavors of the Health Warrior Chia Bars have different colors, and for the Coconut flavor – it’s green. You can’t see what the product actually looks like though, which might be a negative for a “chia bar” as I’m not sure what most people would expect. However, the packaging is bright, eye catching and would certainly catch anyone’s eye. One thing that is apparent though, is that this is going to be a very small bar.
❧ Taste & Texture
Health Warrior Coconut Chia Bars are slightly chewy, slightly sweet and coconutty – that’s a thing right?! There is obviously quite a bit of chia seeds in this and if you’ve ever eaten anything with chia, you know that these will sometimes stick in your teeth. And that’s just how it is with anything that has chia seeds, so be prepared for that.
❧ Serving Size and Nutritionals
Each Health Warrior Coconut Chia Bar is relatively small, weighing in at 25 grams, which will provide 100 calories from 5 grams of total fat, 4 grams of fiber, 5 grams of sugars and 3 grams of protein. The ingredients list (which can be found here) includes White Chia Seeds, Brown Rice Syrup, Cashew Butter, Unsweetened Coconut, Rolled Oats, Organic Agave Syrup, Organic Brown Rice Crisps (Organic Brown Rice, Organic Brown Rice Syrup, Sea Salt), Almonds, Arabic Gum, Natural Flavors, Sea Salt, Mixed Tocopherols (Natural Vitamin E).
❧ Price / Worth It?
I’ve bought these bars numerous times, and it varies from $1.00 – $1.49. It’s worth it – as long as you know it’s small! One will just take the edge off hunger, but will not do much to get you full.
