Oatmega Lemon Chia Protein Bar is a grass fed whey protein bar that’s a combination of tangy lemon, sweet vanilla and chia seeds. Their website says, “it’s like lemon poppy seed cake’s svelte, trendier cousin”.
The packaging doesn’t display an image of the bar anywhere – which is actually a good thing since it’s not very photogenic at all. Instead, there’s a bright yellow color and lemon slices, which I think is visually appealing and speaks to the ingredients. The claims are front and center – gluten free, non GMO, 7 grams of fiber and only 7 grams of sugar. Plus it boldly displays it’s status of 14 grams of protein and omega 3s. I loved everything about the packaging.
✼ Taste & Texture
The Oatmega Lemon Chia Bar weighs in at 50 grams, so you’re getting a thick, chunky bar. It’s sweet with only a hint of lemon that’s more of an odor than a tangy taste. In fact the sweetness and slight chalkiness were the only flavors I could discern. The bar has a slight crunch to it from the whey protein crisps, and small pieces of almonds, but the chia seeds are like a silent partner. It doesn’t look very appealing, and the taste is just so-so – but not terrible. In fact, my picky teenage son loved it.

✼ Price / Worth It?
I bought a box of 4 Oatmega Lemon Chia Protein Bars for $4.88 from my local grocery store – and would buy it again. Count me in for a bar that’s high in protein and fiber, and low in sugars – and the taste is not too bad either.
